Digital Autobiography Blog

  • Digital Autobiography
  • How much effort did you exert on this task?
    • Creating my Digital Autobiography took me a little over two hours from the time I choose my pictures until I completed the collage. I thoroughly enjoyed working on this project and wanted the result to be something I could show my friends and family, not just hand in for a grade. After choosing appropriate pictures, I spent some time looking through the different types of programs suggested, such as animoto and vuvox.  Ultimately I choose vuvox because it seemed user-friendly and had tools that would enhance my project. I tried all of the tools that the site offered and choose the options that suited my project. Overall, I believe the time spent on this project was well worth it. Not only did I fulfill a requirement for the course but I also discovered a free, fun website that I can share with others.
  • What is the value in completing this course task?
    • There are many valuable reasons for completing this task. First, familiarizing myself with new programs is an extremely important task as I will be using new technology throughout my lifetime. I realized that taking the time to look through the different options and refraining from getting frustrated are key elements in discovering the joys of using new programs. Another benefit of completing this project was the chance to use not only the main program (vuvox) but also to try other programs along the way, such as downloading music. Finally, this task was valuable because I was able to explore a website that I know I will be using in the future, whether in my classroom or for personal reasons.
  • How does completing this course task impact your future teaching?
    • Completing this course task impacted my future teaching in a few ways. As anticipated, the task allowed me to practice using familiar and new technology. Also, as mentioned before, this task was good training for dealing with new programs/technology. It is crucial to understand the different ways to try to figure out issues with technology as I will be someday be doing it in front of students. Secondly, this task required the use of different forms of media, like pictures and music, which allowed me to explore the differences between using the two. Finally, the directions for the task taught me that it is crucial to allow students to be creative (use whatever sort of pictures they choose) as well as create a structured activity ( by giving a limit of 10 pictures).
